The second-hand marketplace Members Share Frustration Over Sizing Modifications
Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.
The second-hand shopping app has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's garments but did not contact every member regarding the update.
Social Media Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.
The company said the new system was more in line with other platforms.
It has advised users to review their products and manually change the size when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.
Size Classification Modifications
Before the change, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Member Stories
A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Another user, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she said.
Necessary Adjustments
A different user, located in England, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: previously, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices following member complaints.
